Let’s welcome the new month with some new wallpapers. Designed with love by artists and designers from across the globe, they are available in versions with and without a calendar for April 2022.

For more than eleven years now, we have stuck to our little tradition of welcoming the new month with a fresh collection of desktop and mobile wallpapers — to bring a bit of variety to your screens and maybe even spark new ideas. And, well, it isn’t any different this time around.

In this post, you’ll find wallpapers for April 2022, created with love by artists and designers from across the globe. All of them come in versions with and without a calendar and can be downloaded for free. And since some things are just too good to gather dust hidden somewhere deep down in the archives, we also compiled a selection of timeless April wallpapers from past years’ editions at the end of the post. Maybe you’ll rediscover one of your almost-forgotten favorites in there, too? Enjoy!

Glory To Ukraine

“I created that mouse character for a series of illustrations about a poem my mom often told me when I was a child. In that poem the mouse goes on an adventure. Here it is after the adventure, ready for new ones.” — Designed by Anja Sturm from Germany.

Blue And Yellow

Swing Into Spring

“We walked to Oz with our friends. The road is long, but we follow the yellow bricks. Are you coming with us?” — Designed by Veronica Valenzuela from Spain.

Oldies But Goodies

In the more than eleven years that we’ve been running this monthly wallpapers challenge, so many inspiring and unique designs have seen the light of today. Below you’ll find a little wallpapers best-of from past April editions. Please note that these designs don’t come with a calendar.

“‘Sweet spring is your time is my time is our time for springtime is lovetime and viva sweet love’, wrote E. E. Cummings. And we have a question for you. Is there anything more refreshing, reviving, and recharging than nature in blossom? Let it inspire us all to rise up, hold our heads high, and show the world what we are made of.” — Designed by PopArt Studio from Serbia.

A Time For Reflection

“‘We’re all equal before a wave.’ (Laird Hamilton)” — Designed by Shawna Armstrong from the United States.

Ready For April

“While April showers usually bring May flowers, we thought we all deserved flowers a little early this year. During a stressful time in the world, spending time thinking about others is an antidote to some of the uncertainty. We thought this message, Lift Others Up, reflected the energy the world needs.” — Designed by Mad Fish Digital from Portland, Oregon.

Ipoh Hor Fun

“Missing my hometown’s delicious ‘Kai See Hor Fun’ (in Cantonese), that literally translates to ‘Shredded Chicken Flat Rice Noodles’. It is served in a clear chicken and prawn soup with chicken shreds, prawns, spring onions and noodles.” — Designed by Lew Su Ann from Brunei.

Sweet April Showers Do Bring May Flowers

“Discover the seasonal fruits and vegetables in April: artichoke and beans walking in the rain!” — Designed by Vitaminas Design from Spain.

Purple Rain

“This month is International Guitar Month! Time to get out your guitar and play. As a graphic designer/illustrator seeing all the variations of guitar shapes begs to be used for a fun design. Search the guitar shapes represented and see if you see one similar to yours, or see if you can identify some of the different styles that some famous guitarists have played (BTW, Prince’s guitar is in there and purple is just a cool color).” — Designed by Karen Frolo from the United States.

Flying On A Rainy Day!

“April is the month of spring or autumn depending where you live on the globe! It’s also the second rainiest month of the year. I was inspired by one simple motif to illustrate rain, birds and flowers. So either you witness rainy days or colorful ones … Enjoy April!” — Designed by Rana Kadry from Egypt.

Spring Serenity

“My inspiration was the arrival of spring that transmits a sense of calmness and happiness through its beautiful colors.” — Designed by Margarida Granchinho from Portugal.
